About Lester Smith

A Lifetime of Service. A Vision for Real Change.

Lester Smith is a lifelong resident of Shreveport and a proud advocate for the people of District F. For more than 65 years, he has called the Mooretown community home, dedicating his life to serving his neighbors through leadership, faith, and community involvement.

A respected businessman, entrepreneur, and community activist, Lester has spent decades working to improve the quality of life for families across Shreveport. He is the founder and former president of the Mooretown Neighborhood Association, former First Vice President of the Shreveport Branch NAACP, and co-owner and co-host of the Keeping It Real Radio and Podcast.

His commitment to public service extends beyond advocacy. Lester has helped organize community initiatives to reduce violence, including chairing the NAACP Drug and Substance Committee, helping launch the city’s first lockup initiative, organizing Northwest Louisiana’s first Gang Truce, and leading the “Drop Your Guns” campaign to reduce gun violence.

A devoted father of six, Lester is an active member, Deacon, and Brotherhood President at Oak Hill Baptist Church, where his faith continues to guide his commitment to honesty, integrity, and service.

Now, Lester Smith is running for Shreveport City Council, District F, because he believes our city deserves leadership that listens, works together, and delivers real results.
